Katz Dean at Einstein and chief academic officer at Montefiore Einstein; Ruth L. Gottesman, Ed.D., chair of the Einstein Board of Trustees; Yoon Kang, M.D., vice dean for education and Ruth L. Gottesman Chair in Education; Josh Evans, grandson of Dr. Harry H. Gordon; and Priti Mishall, M.D., anatomy course director
The new space, named in honor of Harry H. Gordon, M.D., Einstein’s second dean (1967-1970) and a pioneering pediatrician, reflects his enduring legacy of excellence in clinical teaching, medical ethics, and advocacy for vulnerable children. Dr. Gordon’s grandson, Josh Evans, was present for the dedication, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the celebration.
A Vision Realized
In his remarks, Yaron Tomer, M.D., the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Einstein and chief academic officer at Montefiore Einstein emphasized the importance of the project. “For our students, anatomy is the most foundational course in their medical education, vital to acquiring the clinical skills and knowledge necessary for compassionate and exceptional patient care.”

Yoon Kang, M.D., vice dean for education and Ruth L. Gottesman Chair in Education, shared how the new facility would enhance the education experience and skills for Einstein’s M.D. students. “This space is an incredibly innovative and collaborative new learning environment. It will seamlessly integrate advanced technology with hands-on learning and demonstrate connections to clinical practice.”
The lab features a simulated operating room, interactive touchscreen Sectra tables, and a modern surgical skills lab, allowing students to visualize anatomical structures and understand their clinical relevance. The inclusion of faculty offices and a student lounge nearby further supports a holistic learning experience.
