Dr. Ana Maria Cuervo Delivers Harvey Society Lecture
Einstein’s Dr. Ana Maria Cuervo delivered “Selective Autophagy: The Ultimate Recycling for a Long and Healthy Life” at the Harvey Society lecture series on Thursday, March 17, 2016. A world-renowned expert in the study of autophagy—the mechanism by which cells eliminate internal toxic products—Dr. Cuervo’s studies have been integral in furthering our understanding of the process of autophagy and its relevance to aging and age-related disorders.

The series is considered one of the nation’s most distinguished forums for scientific discourse. Its longstanding tradition of featuring leaders in their respective biomedical fields from around the world brings together scientists from institutions throughout the region. It is open to the public as well.
Dr. Cuervo was selected from more than 100 researchers to present her research. With her selection, Dr. Cuervo joins a group of elite scientists, including many Nobel laureates, who have received the honor. She is professor of developmental and molecular biology, of anatomy and structural biology and of medicine at Einstein. She also is co-director of the Einstein Institute for Aging Research and holds the Robert and Renée Belfer Chair for the Study of Neurodegenerative Disease.
