Introducing Einstein’s Payroll Team
In 1996, National Payroll Week was established to celebrate America's 150 million wage earners and the payroll professionals who make sure they get paid on time. With the creation of "new Einstein," the College of Medicine now has its own payroll office—which previously had been administered through Yeshiva University. Einstein's payroll team, which reports to Karen Rosenthal, controller in Einstein's finance department, used Payroll Week to introduce themselves to the Einstein community.

"We decided that we'd mark National Payroll Week, so that Einstein employees would know who we are, where we are and how we can assist them," said Veronica Pritchett, payroll compliance specialist.
During their weeklong open house, held during September, the payroll staff invited members of the Einstein community to visit their offices in Belfer 1203 and to learn about the services that the payroll office provides. They set up a poster with Albert Einstein holding a paycheck to make it easy to find their location.
Approximately 50 employees acted on the invitation, meeting Ms. Pritchett, along with Charlotte Perry, payroll analyst; Paula Joseph, Kronos specialist; and Daryl Haley, payroll manager. They also discussed payroll questions and concerns and participated in payroll trivia games. Trivia participants were quizzed on their knowledge of various money-related facts for a chance to win a Dunkin Donuts gift card. A brochure with frequently asked payroll questions was available as well.
"Our main goal for the week was to make sure employees know we're here for them," noted Ms. Pritchett. "For example, everyone receives Paula's e-mails reminding them to take care of their timecards on Kronos. Now they can put a face to her name."
"We also wanted more people to know the benefits of signing up for direct deposit," said Ms. Perry. "Many of the employees who stopped by had questions about whether they should use direct deposit. We recommend it as a safe and convenient way to receive your paycheck."
Ms. Pritchett nodded, adding, "At the end of the day, everybody wants to get paid. We want employees to know that we're here to prevent and solve any issues."
