Teamwork Makes Strides for a Good Cause
Last fall, Einstein joined forces with 1199 SEIU, a union that represents healthcare workers, to organize a corporate team that raised money for the Bronx chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, held at Orchard Beach. Through hard work and dedication, 30 Einstein employees and family members raised more than $5,800, far exceeding their goal of $3,000. Collectively, the Bronx “Making Strides” walk raised more than $346,000.
The Einstein/1199 Making Strides team gets set to go
“Our team ranked tenth in total fundraising, out of 593 teams in the Bronx,” noted Robert Cancellieri, director of employee relations, who helped spearhead promotion of the team. “One of our team members—Beverly Glover—ranked in the top 50 for individual fundraising, out of nearly 2,700 participants in the Bronx.”
Aside from raising much-needed funds for the American Cancer Society, Team Einstein & 1199 SEIU joined thousands of other walkers and breast cancer survivors in an inspiring day along the Long Island Sound.
“We’re thrilled to have had so many members of Einstein take part in this inaugural walk team,” said Yvonne Ramirez, vice president, human resources and diversity officer.
“We’re already planning for next year’s event and welcome more employees and students to join our team,” added Ms. Glover, contract administrator for 1199 SEIU at Einstein.
