Town Halls Shed Light on Einstein’s New D & I Plan
Earlier this month, Dean Allen M. Spiegel, M.D., introduced the College of Medicine’s new Diversity & Inclusion Strategic Plan (D & I Plan), and encouraged members of the Einstein community to attend upcoming town hall meetings being held throughout February.
Perhaps you’re wondering what the D & I Plan is, what it means for you, and what you could gain from attending a town hall. Inside Einstein spoke with Dr. Irene Blanco, associate dean for diversity enhancement; Dr. Ed Burns, executive dean; and Yvonne Ramirez, vice president of human resources and diversity officer, who are leading the town hall discussions, to shed some light on why your voice and insights are important.
Why do we need a Diversity & Inclusion Strategic Plan (D&I Plan) at Einstein?
We established the D & I Plan to provide a comprehensive action plan that will allow us to improve Einstein’s efforts at attracting the best talent and doing so by providing an environment where diversity, inclusion and cultural competence are strategically positioned as among our highest priorities. This will ensure Einstein’s continued excellence and success.
Can anyone at Einstein attend a town hall?
The D & I Plan is intended to address all aspects of campus and work life at Einstein. It is a plan for the entire Einstein community, so we welcome and encourage everyone’s views and input.
Why should I attend a town hall?
You are a member of the Einstein community and your views and feedback are important to helping us achieve the goals we’ve established. Each one of you is important to our success. This is why we encourage you to attend.
