New Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Appointed
Dr. Mimoza Meholli, assistant professor of medicine, has been appointed assistant dean for student affairs, reporting to Dr. Allison Ludwig, associate dean for student affairs, and to Dr. Allen M. Spiegel,M.D. Einstein’s Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean.

Since completing her residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Jacobi Medical Center, Dr. Meholli has served as a teaching hospitalist, palliative care attending and ethics consultant at Jacobi. She has also been the site leader for the medical students rotating at Jacobi, initially for the sub-internship, and most recently for the third-year medicine clerkship. She has served as the associate director of the division of hospital medicine and as an associate program director for the internal medicine residency at Jacobi.
“Mimoza is an extraordinary mentor who is widely admired by Einstein students, and her excellence has been recognized with numerous teaching awards – including our prestigious Samuel M. Rosen Outstanding Clinical Teacher Award in 2016 and being selected by Einstein’s class of 2015 for induction to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society,” said Dr. Spiegel. Dr. Meholli also is a member of the Leo M. Davidoff Society for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching.
“We’re excited to have Mimoza join our team, helping to guide our students through their medical education and residency selection,” added Dr. Ludwig.
While Dr. Meholli won’t begin her new role until April 16, 2018, she’s already looking forward to her work with Einstein’s medical students. “I’ve always been impressed with the quality of students at Einstein,” she said. “In all my various roles, I feel I’ve become a better physician, mentor and teacher because of the students. I’m proud to support each student in their journey to becoming well-rounded physicians and to continue Einstein’s legacy.”
Dr. Meholli graduated from the Medical School for International Health in collaboration with Columbia University at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Beersheva, Israel. She has also completed the Montefiore-Einstein Certificate Program in Bioethics and Medical Humanities.
