Bad “Car”ma: Local Road Work Causes More Lane Closures
While the construction along Morris Park and Eastchester has diminished considerably, from Monday, June 15, through Friday, July 24, the project along Pelham Parkway will cause numerous lane closures that could adversely affect your commute to work.
Due to road repairs and water main work, during the next six weeks, lane closures will affect the portion of Eastchester road that connects the Pelham Parkway eastbound main road and the Pelham Parkway North service road, as well as the Pelham Parkway westbound main road, approaching Eastchester Road. These closures will be in effect around the clock, including weekends
In addition, from Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 20, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., lane closures also will be in effect along Eastchester Road between the Pelham Parkway North service and eastbound main roads, as well as the Pelham Parkway westbound main road between Williamsbridge and White Plains roads.
Finding Your Way
Below are some suggestions for alternate routes that could be helpful. When determining which can work best for you, also be sure to factor in that the sewer line work that had been underway along our campus is now being done down by Waters Place.
So, please be safe and plan your commute accordingly—whether by car, bus, or bicycle! (Those choosing the latter form of transport will find that bicycle paths are not affected in the way that but be mindful that drivers may be more impatient, and stay safe!)
Not sure which alternate routes to campus can work for you? Here are some suggestions that may help you to avoid the construction.
If you’re traveling south (from upper Westchester and Connecticut) on:
Hutchinson River Parkway: Bypass exit 3W and take the exit 2, for Westchester Ave./E. Tremont Ave., instead. Then make a right on Waters Place, followed by a right on Eastchester Road to campus.
Interstate 95: Avoid the “gateway to Pelham Parkway” at exit 8C, and instead take exit 8A, for Bruckner Blvd. Make a quick right on Arnow Place, a left on Westchester Road, a right on Waters Place and then a right onto Eastchester Road to campus.
Or, traveling north (from Manhattan, New Jersey, Queens, Brooklyn or Long Island) on:
Hutchinson River Parkway: Take exit 2 and make a left on E. Tremont, followed by a right on Blondell Ave., and then a right onto Eastchester Road to campus.
Interstate 95: Take exit 7C, and then make a left on Country Club Road, which becomes Jarvis Ave. Then go left on Middletown Road, left on Westchester Ave., right on Waters Place, and right onto Eastchester Road to campus.
Use public transportation: View the “Visitor” page on our website for information on getting to Einstein using subway and/or buses. Or request a free bike route map from the NYC department of transportation.
