Einstein’s Heart Is On Its Rolled-Up Sleeve
On Tuesday, August 28, 2018, 100 members of the Einstein community made donations at the Einstein Blood Drive, held in coordination with the New York Blood Center (NYBC). As a result, the center collected 114 units of blood to assist the emergency blood shortage currently in the New York metropolitan area.

“Our community members really stepped up to the plate in record numbers to help provide much-needed blood resources,” said Robert Cancellieri, director of employee relations and blood drive chair. “I’m thrilled by the response to the call for action to make a difference with this gift of life.”
Of the Einstein donations, 86 were whole blood products and 14 donors utilized Alyx technology to safely donate double the amount of red blood cells.
“As a result, 340 patients will benefit from the efforts of the Einstein community,” said Tina Rivera, the NYBC’s account manager. “On behalf of the hospitals and patients whose lives you have touched, thank you!”
