Beware of Floody Water
With our first snowfall of the season, it’s particularly important that we all remember to close any open windows before departing this evening. Open windows can cause frigid conditions that lead to burst pipes and flooding, it's important to make sure that if we open any windows in a room or office, we close them whenever we leave. Before departing any room or office, please make sure to close all windows—including any that a colleague, classmate, or roommate may have opened and left.
Please Beware: Leaving windows open can allow freezing temperatures in.
To help prevent the potential for flooding, please take a moment to check that windows are shut and locked before you depart any room or office. In addition, if the room has a sink, also make sure to clean and remove items from the sink and place all garbage in a trash receptacle. Also verify that the faucet has been turned off completely, since even dripping water can build up over time if left long enough.
If you find it is difficult to close or lock a window yourself, or there appears to be a faucet that may have a leak, please contact engineering at x3000 and/or security at x2019 to request assistance, providing your building and room number.
