Anatomy of a Donation: Alumni Relations Provides Scrubs to Montefiore
An Einstein SHOUTout! goes to Einstein’s office of alumni relations for making a donation of 37 sets of medical scrubs in an array of colors to Montefiore’s frontline clinical staff as they battle novel coronavirus day in and day out.
“Every year, members among our alumni provide scrubs to the first-year class, to wear during their gross anatomy course, with each class receiving a unique color,” said Robert Tupper, associate director of annual programs and alumni relations. “We often have extra replacement sets we keep on hand, and when we saw on the COVID-19 donations page that scrubs were among supplies needed, we looked to see what we had available.”
The 37 sets in the donation represent scrubs given to the classes of 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
“The demand for supplies is critical now,” said Min Um-Mandhyan, director of alumni relations. “We’re glad that we could contribute to supporting our clinical colleagues at Montefiore.” Anyone can make a donation. Outreach to Einstein Alumni
The office of alumni relations also is working with Einstein's Alumni Association Board of Governors, which has established an emergency matching fund in the amount of $40,000 to generate contributions from Einstein alumni and beyond.
"The funds raised through this matching program will support the core needs of Einstein's COVID-19 response effort," explained Min.
All donations will be matched 1:1 until the $40,000 in matching funds is exhausted. Donations can be made by visiting the Combatting COVID-19 page.
