Helping Supply Those on the Front Line
This Einstein SHOUTout! goes to our department of procurement services for going above and beyond its usual efforts to make sure that Einstein has all of the resources needed to keep our essential employees safe and support their productivity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Procurement staff members have worked with contacts old and new, around the clock, to purchase items needed to keep Einstein's essential personnel safe and able to do their work.
Since the outbreak, procurement services has coordinated every day with all of Einstein’s departments to assure that the College of Medicine can provide front line workers with the supplies they need to perform their on-campus duties.
“I’m grateful for the amazing job procurement services has done in getting the products that my team and I need during this crisis,” noted Fernando Quiles, director of auxiliary services. “Thanks to their tireless efforts, our housekeeping staff was able to install 58 new hand-sanitizing dispensers around campus at a time when hand sanitizer was nearly impossible to come by, and they have been able to keep us stocked with important EPA-approved chemicals that we need and are extremely difficult to get.”

Using their business savvy, procurement services staff members have been able to secure ample supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect Einstein’s caregivers while they treat patients with COVID-19.
The team has also been working holidays and weekends—reaching out to partner companies both new and old—to ensure that supply orders are sent out quickly. This level of dedication has helped prevent Einstein’s essential employees from missing out on the resources they need to keep us all safe and healthy.
Keeping Einstein Covered
Together with Einstein’s environmental health and safety, information technology, and security and transportation departments, procurement services has helped set up a disposable mask program on campus. This became particularly important once Governor Cuomo signed an executive order requiring all New Yorkers to wear a mask or face covering when out in public. The program provides all members of the Einstein community who are on campus with the protection necessary for them to safely continue their work during these challenging times.
These are just some of the initiatives that procurement services has undertaken to help protect the Einstein community. If you happen to run into a member of their team, be sure to thank them for their tremendous round-the-clock devotion to our campus (while maintaining a safe “social distance” and rocking your disposable mask, of course!).
