Einstein's Dr. Keller on NIH Committee Recommending COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines
This Einstein SHOUTout! goes to Marla Keller, M.D., vice chair for research in medicine and associate director of the Einstein Montefiore Block Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, who was among the members of an expert panel led by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases that developed treatment guidelines for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Intended for healthcare providers, the guidelines are based on published and preliminary data and the clinical expertise of the panelists, many of whom are frontline clinicians caring for patients during the rapidly evolving pandemic.
“We were a group of clinicians and researchers, and we worked expeditiously to develop these comprehensive treatment guidelines for COVID-19," said Dr. Keller, who also is professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases. She added that the guidelines will be updated often by the panel as new data are published and other information emerges. The NIH issued a press release about the panel and the guidelines.
