Ad Libitum Marks Its 20th Anniversary!
Twenty years ago, Tara Vijayan, class of 2007, approached Dr. Albert Kuperman, then associate dean for educational affairs, about the prospect of supporting the production of an art and literary magazine for the College of Medicine. As she explained it, "In medicine, you have incredibly profound human experiences, and I felt that having an outlet to re-experience them was helpful, even cathartic. He agreed." And so, Ad Libitum was born.
Each publication is filled with submissions of poetry, essays, short stories, paintings, drawings, and photographs created by members of the Einstein community.
Now, preparations have begun to produce the 20th issue of publication, to which members of the Einstein community are invited to make their submissions. Everyone at Einstein, from students and postdocs to staff and faculty, and even their children, can make submissions for consideration.
“We’re thrilled to be accepting submissions for this milestone edition of our art and literary magazine,” said Oliva Albert, current editor-in-chief. “There have been many changes to the magazine throughout the years, and perhaps the most exciting is our ability to now accept and share music and video submissions.”
Simply visit the publication’s website and complete the online form, where you'll also be able to upload your work. The deadline to submit is Friday, March 11, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.
If you have any questions, please email the editorial team at 14libitum@gmail.com, or contact Olivia Albert or Meera Trivedi directly.
